Stages of growing strawberries

Film laying

Within one working progress there will be done fertilization, bed shaping, will be put drip irrigation system and film.  

Hole punching

Making a hole into the bed beforehand will make planting a lot easier especially when planting bigger plants.

Planting

For the great result the soil must be moistured enought and the depth of the plants must be right.

Picking

Picking strawberries under the white cover and on the moving platform has a lot benefits compared to regular picking:

• work can be done no matter the weather
• time can be used effectively only for picking
• quality of the strawberries is under control inside and out of the box
• strawberries are picked directly to the marketing box
• berry neither has to stay outside nor under the rain
• payment can be reckon out of the work hours
• physiologically more acceptable for the worker

Refrigeration

Cooling down the strawberries must happen as fast as possible to quarante the quality.

Transport

While transporting the berries it is important to keep the temperature as cold as possible. It is also important that there will be no sudden temperature changes along the way to wherever.

Spraying between the beds

If there is no grass between the beds then there will be a better air circulation, less diseases and picking is easier.

Mowing between the beds

Sometimes the spraying doesn't help or can't be done, then there is a chance to mow the grass.

Cutting runners

Gives extra power to the plant to form next season's yield.

The wintercoverage for beds

Protects the plants from cold and wind, adds few + degress in the winter and protects from goats. Compared to regular cover the advantages are following: no incubation, doesn't need fence protection, lasts at least 10 years. 

Brushing uppers

Brushing old strawberry leaves is important to remove diseases.

With right technology and with right weather condition it is easy work to do.
